About Jovian Clouds : : The Studio
JovianClouds was technically founded in 1994 between me and a few friends who were playing with HTML, a new code and tool at the time.
Initially working under the name ValarClan
Back then there was no WYSIWYG tools for the web or coding. And PC Paint was the best most people had for graphics. Infact Mosiac, the first HTML browser was released in 1994... Before that it was Gopher (From the University of Minnesota).
Name origins 'ValarClan':
Valar was taken from JRR Tolkien's novel Silmarillions referring to the good guys. Clan came from the term dealing with family.
In 2000 in a attempt to expand the work team the studio was created from members of the Minnesota Daily, the name was changed.
Name Origins 'JovianClouds':
Jovian come from Greek gods, the love of coffee, Java/Javascript, and general love of astronomy. And clouds came from greek gods being in clouds, cream in coffee, cloud computing, and the occasional Daydreaming needed to create.
Having more imagery to work with the new name it has stayed as our mainstay.
When I can not do the task alone I do bring in my friends from time to time.
